:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Rock-paper-scissors is a hand game played by two or more people. The game is also known as roshambo, or another ordering of the three items (with "stone" sometimes substituting for "rock").
The game is often used as a selection method in a way similar to coin flipping, drawing straws, or throwing dice. However, unlike truly random selection methods, rock-paper-scissors can be played with a degree of skill, especially if the game extends over many sessions with the same players; it is often possible to recognize and exploit the non-random behavior of an opponent.
According to the Chinese Ming Dynasty writer Xie Zhaozhi's (谢肇淛) book Wuzazu (五杂组), the first known mention of the game, the game dates back to the time of the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE), it was called shoushiling (手势令). Li Rihua's (李日华) book Note of Liuyanzhai (六砚斋笔记) also reveals this game, calling it shoushiling (手势令), huozhitou (豁指头), or huoquan (豁拳).
In the 18th century these games were popular in Japan.
It's known in Japan as Jan-ken-pon (じゃんけんぽん), more commonly called janken (じゃんけん) and sometimes called rock ken (石拳, ishiken). The origin or the derivation of the name is unknown. Ken (拳, ken) is a fist in Japanese and Jan-ken-po is categorized as a "ken (fist) games" (拳遊び, ken asobi).
Janken is believed to have been based on two older ken games, sū ken (数拳, number competing game with fingers, likely similar to or identical with Morra) and san sukumi ken (三すくみ拳, san sukumi means the freezing aspects of a snake, frog, and slug with fear).
San sukumi ken has existed in Japan since ancient times, and sū ken was imported from China in the late 17th century; the name in China of sū ken is shoushìlìng (手勢令). Ken games began to increase in popularity in the middle of the 19th century.
Rock-paper-scissors came to be played all over the world by the 20th century.

quote
A masu (枡)
was originally a square wooden box used to measure rice in Japan during the feudal period. Masu existed in many sizes, typically covering the range from one to (一斗枡 ittomasu, c. 1.8L) to five gō (五合枡 gogōmasu, c. 0.9L).
One masu was supposedly enough rice to feed a person for one day.
Today masu are largely used for drinking sake, as the advent of modern rice cookers and a higher calorie diet in Japan has made them impractical for measuring portions of rice, and the standard size is one gō, or 0.18039L.
A small (2.5 in x 2.5 in x 2.25 in h), lidded form of masu, made of hinoki, is sold for serving pepper, salt, sugar, and other dry condiments at the table.

After Tokugawa Ieyasu was in firm control of the Edo Bakufu government, he ordered the
Edo masu 江戸枡
to be used.
All the other domains used their own Masu and to unify the whole lot, the Bakufu decided in 1667 to use the Kyomasu in all of Japan.
Special offices, called 枡座 Masu-Za, where set up in Edo and Kyoto to supervise the size and punish any offenders.
The Head of the Kyoto Masuza was the carpenter 福井作左衛門 Fukui Sakuzaemon
and in Edo 樽屋藤左衛門 / 樽屋与左衛門 Taruya Yozaemon .
They had to make the official Masu, burn a seal into the wood and bring them to the market for sale. All other Masu were forbidden.
Since the Kyo-Masu was slightly larger than the Edo-Masu, the government was able to increase its income by just that much!

Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure), short for "costume play",
is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture centred on role play. A broader use of the term "cosplay" applies to any costumed role play in venues apart from the stage, regardless of the cultural context.
Favorite sources include manga and anime, comic books, video games and films. Any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject. Inanimate objects are given anthropomorphic forms and it is not unusual to see genders switched, with women playing male roles and vice versa. There is also a subset of cosplay culture centered around sex appeal, with cosplayers specifically choosing characters that are known for their attractiveness and/or revealing (even explicit) costumes.
