Daimon Town 大門町
子供達の健やかな成長を願って行う「越中だいもん凧まつり」は県内外の多くの愛好家や外国人で賑わい、24畳の大凧をはじめ、連凧や魚の形をした変わり凧など、大小7000余りの凧が庄川の大空を鮮やかに彩ります。そこで揚げられる「だるま凧」をデザインしたマンホールフタです。町内の公共下水道、特定環境保全公共下水道区域で使用されています。

　下水道の施設は、処理場やポンプ場以外は、地下に埋められているため、普段目にすることはあまりありません。そんな中で、マンホールのフタだけは、皆さんが日常よく目にするものです。

From Toyama Town
This one is a rendering ot the Thistle, azami.
富山市の草花「あざみ」をデザインしたマンホールフタです。市内中心部の浜黒崎処理区で使われています。「あざみ」は、昭和４８年３月５日に、市の木「けやき」、市の花木「つばき」とともに選ばれました。「あざみ」は赤紫色の花と深緑のとげのある葉が特徴のどこででも見られる草花ですが、根は薬用になり、「富山のくすり」ともつながることから選ばれたそうです。




From Uozu Town

魚津市の花「カノコユリ」のデザインマンホールフタです。「カノコユリ」は日本原産のユリ科の球根植物です。花に鹿の子絞り状の突起があります。魚津市はカノコユリの生産日本一で、「花の里」として有名な長引野地区では、カノコユリ球根の栽培が盛んに行われています。通常入れているカラーマンホールフタは、左のとおりとなっております。ただ、レアものとして、背景の色が、黒・黄色・白の三色があります。市内一円に、2～3枚づつ入っております。




From Fuchuu Town

From Inokuchi Town
The flower is Tsubaki, the Camellia.
井口村の花木「ツバキ」をデザインしたマンホールのふたです。「ツバキ」は、昭和５３年に村の花木として村の草花「福寿草」、村の樹木「ブナ」とともに選ばれました。「ツバキ」は、身近な庭木で、和字「椿」があるように春の代表的な花木です。毎年３月下旬には、「いのくち椿まつり」が開催されます。

Is this an example of mingei? これも民芸品ですか？
to make even the most everyday, humble, and utilitarian objects beautiful? (I am really asking the question, because the usual English translation "folk art" does not imply sophisticated decoration of manhole covers.)
