Hello Gabi Greve,
My name is xxxxx and I got your email from your website about Darumas.
I just wanted to say 'hello' and thank you for putting all your knowledge about Darumas on the internet...and in English too. I am going to try and read more of your website to find out more.
Only recently did I find out about the stroy and what it meant. I had always seen them but never knew what the story behind it was. Luckily I will be visiting Japan in a fortnight and I want to take this opportunity to buy a Daruma in Japan. Please could you advise me about what you think?
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your efforts in the website!

About Morning Mist and the Healing Effect of Haiku:
ReplyDeleteGabiさんの言われる通り、その癒し効果により、歌を詠むようになってから自分の内面に変化を感じている方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか?
私もとてもrelaxした時間を持てるようになりました。
歌寿人さんに至っては日々「吟行」のようなものですから安らげるのか、どうか・・・、どう? ^^;

ReplyDeleteHello Gabi,
I want to let you know that I enjoy and appreciate your wonderful websites on Japanese
culture everytime. I just read a couple of small books.
One by Umehara Takeshi on Kukai and another by Yanagisawa Keiko on evolution. I thought of you and Japan as I read the books. I still think about sending you something of my calligraphy but I am not sure what.

Dear Gabi-san:
ReplyDeleteI lived in Japan for 4 years. I have a medium-sized collection of Daruma, made from many different materials. I love them like children!
I just found your website today. I also just found the link to Haguro-san in Yamagata-ken, with photos. The thatched-roof temple there is "subarashi." I recommend that anyone who travels in Japan should go to Haguro-san. It is a magical place.
Arigatoo gozaimasu and long live Daruma-san!!

Gabi-san:
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Alaska where I am sitting on top of the world.
Damn the web! I lost a couple of hours this morning logging on to one art site and, a couple of clicks later finding Tamara de Lempicka's 'auto portrait'...subsequently following her other works through link after link on the net.
Now I was just following Sengai Gibon, looks for more of his sumi-e and find myself here, -& here, your site, is gonna keep me riveted in front of the computer for a couple more hours! :-)
Oh well, in between Lempicka, Sengai and you I did manage to find four and a half hours to brew a batch of beer.
Oh well II: There will always be time to eat later. Sigh.
Gabi-san, good work!
Jim
Hi Gabi,
ReplyDeleteJust stopped for a winter visit. A friend of mine has winter chrysanthemums still blooming. Quite amazing.
You work is lovely! I'm starting up a community project where people can send in anything that makes them happy, and I'd love to get some more poetry submissions. Please check it out if you'd like!

ReplyDeleteI was born in a Rat year. When i was just born, on a wild stormy night along the Baltic, my Mother found a rat curled up next to me in my cradle, this same rat was found on a daily bais, they could not get it to leave. I am very fond of rats. I enjoy Rat people too.
